Meet Our Team

Ana Cancian, Registered Psychotherapist

Director and Supervisor

Not accepting new clients.

Hi there! I’m Ana!
I am the Director, Supervisor, and a Psychotherapist at Fluxo Psychotherapy, bringing over 10 years of experience supporting clients in building a life worth living.

Director
As the founder and director of Fluxo Psychotherapy, I launched the practice in 2020 to create a space that reflects my core values in psychotherapy. My goal is to ensure that Fluxo offers a compassionate, inclusive, and client-centered environment where individuals feel empowered to achieve their best selves.

Supervisor
In my role as a supervisor, I am committed to fostering the growth and development of future psychotherapists. I provide guidance and mentorship to clinicians, ensuring they offer ethical, effective, and compassionate care that aligns with the standards of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). I take pride in supporting practitioners to refine their skills and stay grounded in the shared humanity of psychotherapy.

Psychotherapist
As a psychotherapist, I bring a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental approach to my clinical work. I believe deeply in the power of the therapeutic relationship as the cornerstone of healing and growth. Research shows that trust and connection between client and therapist are key ingredients for transformative psychotherapy, and I strive to build this connection with every client.

I have lived experience as a POC, Latinx, immigrant woman in Canada, which informs my work and commitment to applying an Anti-Oppression lens in all aspects of psychotherapy. I am passionate about supporting clients in overcoming trauma, finding their inner wisdom, and living authentically with courage and purpose.

Specialized Expertise
My therapeutic approach is emotion-focused, trauma-informed, and deeply rooted in anti-oppression principles. I focus on exploring what happened to people rather than what is wrong with them, validating their experiences and helping them heal from the impacts of trauma and oppression. My passion lies in supporting clients to:

  • Overcome childhood and attachment trauma

  • Challenge old trauma and fear narratives

  • Trust their inner wisdom and emotions

  • Stand up against oppressive environments

  • Find belonging in safe spaces

  • Appreciate themselves just as they are

  • Discover their life purpose and connect with spirituality

I utilize Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), tailoring each approach to meet the unique needs of my clients. My specialized training includes:

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy for Complex Trauma

  • DBT Prolonged Exposure for PTSD

  • Trauma-focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Credentials

  • Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology (PUCRS)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology (PUCRS)

  • Licensed for Independent Practice by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO)

  • General Member of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP)

A Glimpse Into My Life
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family—my spouse, my son, and our dogs. I’m a houseplant enthusiast and enjoy arts and crafts as a creative outlet. I practice meditation daily and attend a Zen meditation retreat annually, embedding mindfulness into both my personal and professional life. I firmly believe that courage is not the absence of fear, but the pursuit of your path despite it.

I feel deeply honored to witness the unique journeys of my clients as they move toward healing, empowerment, and self-discovery. If you’re ready to begin your journey, I’m here to support you every step of the way.
