Mayra Lazo at Fluxo Psychotherapy

Mayra Lazo (she/her)

Clinical Associate

You’re not “too much.” You’re carrying too much — and you don’t have to do it alone.

Living with a brain injury, chronic illness, or mood disorder can leave you feeling like life just doesn’t work the way it used to.

You may feel exhausted — mentally, emotionally, physically.
You might be grieving the version of yourself that existed before.
Maybe you’re overwhelmed by symptoms no one seems to fully understand — not even you.

I’m here to remind you:
You are not broken.
You are human.
And you deserve care that sees the whole of you.

My areas of focus

I work with adults navigating:

  • Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

  • Chronic Illness

  • Mood Disorders (including Depression, Bipolar, BPD, Anxiety)

  • Sleep Disorders

Whether you’re newly diagnosed or have been managing these challenges for years, I provide a space where you can show up exactly as you are — no need to mask, minimize, or explain everything.

A compassionate, holistic approach

My work is grounded in empathy, neuroscience-informed understanding, and evidence-based therapy.

I integrate techniques from:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • Mindfulness-based approaches

We’ll focus on helping you:

  • Understand your emotions and nervous system

  • Rebuild a sense of safety in your body and mind

  • Cope with cognitive changes, energy crashes, and emotional overwhelm

  • Manage anxiety, depression, and sleep disruptions

  • Create personalized tools for daily life — without shame or pressure

Why I do this work

I’ve seen how isolating it can feel to live with invisible conditions.
To struggle with memory or mood or sleep — and have your pain dismissed or misunderstood.
To want support that gets it — not just clinically, but emotionally.

That’s why my therapy style is equal parts skilled and human.
Warmth, humour, structure, validation — all of it matters.
I’m not here to fix you. I’m here to walk with you as you find your footing again.

You are more than your diagnosis

Your story is worth telling.
Your pain is worth tending to.
And your healing — in whatever form it takes — is worth the work.

If you’re ready for support that meets you with compassion and clarity, I’m here when you’re ready.

Let’s begin, together.
